Greeva Basti (Neck)

GREEVA BASTI

The Greeva means neck. Basti indicates to retaining something inside. Greeva Basti is all about to treat the neck region with medicated oil and freshly prepared herbal decoction to address of the spine, muscles and skeletal tissues of neck and shoulders. Like several other BASTI treatments in Ahmedabad, it is also the hot oil therapy.

Procedure

The person is made to lie face down. The dough ring is prepared with black gram flour or whole wheat flour. The ring is made four to five inches in diameter. It is placed over the neck. All the vertebrae of the neck and 2-3 vertebrae of the thoracic region is made covered with ring. It is made leak proof so it can hold the lukewarm medicated oil or the decoction of herbs which is poured in it.

The oil is replaced with more warm mixture. The dough is removed. The gentle massage is done over the area. The person is allowed to take rest for a while.
